Record 50k cases take India’s tally to 14.32 L

NEW DELHI: India registered over 50 thousand fresh Covid-19 cases, its highest ever, pushing its infections tally to over 14-lakh, just two days after it crossed the 13-lakh mark, even as the death toll has neared 33-thousand mark.
The total Covid-19 cases in the country now stand at 14.32 lakh while the death toll stand at 32769, latest by Sunday 9:40 pm.
According to the Union Health Ministry data released Sunday morning, with 48,661 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 13,85,522, while the recoveries mounted to 8,85,576,
The country's death toll rose to 32,063 with 705 fatalities being recorded in a day, the data updated at 8 am showed.
There are 4,67,882 active cases of coronavirus infection presently in the country. Thus, around 63.92 per cent people have recovered so far, it said.
However, a tally showed India's COVID-19 caseload at 14,32,773 and the death toll at 32769, an increase by 50218 and 725, respectively. This is the first time that India has registered over 50 thousand cases in a single day.
The tally has been compiled as per information provided by respective states and union territories latest by 9:40pm. The tally put the total recoveries at 914605, an increase by 32640.
