"Mubarak Mandi needs inspection to check vulnerable areas"

JAMMU, July 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today urged the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society to conduct a detailed inspection of the entire complex, check vulnerable areas and initiate appropriate measures to strengthen them all, especially in wake of ongoing monsoon season. He said, every rainy season takes with it a portion of this heritage complex and razes it to the ground.
Raman Suri said that this complex is of utmost importance and needs special care viz a viz its restoration but laxity can cause us our heritage. He said rains had always been destroying vulnerable portions, thus adequate arrangements should be put in place well in advance so that this season we don't loose any piece of heritage.
He said it takes restoration agencies years to restore a small portion of Mubarak Mandi but one single rainy season detroys much larger portion, thereby depriving us of our historic treasure. He also expressed his concern over delay in shifting of Dogra Museum artefacts to the new building and said damaged portion of existing building is likely to cause more damage to the paintings, artefacts and other manuscripts.
Raman Suri said, even Advisor Baseer Khan, during his visit to the complex, had asked agencies to shift artefacts to a safe building but nothing has been done so far. He alerted that if these art pieces are not moved to safe building before incessant rains, things could turn disasterous. He hoped that Dogra Museum artefacts are protected and moved to New building as soon as possible.
