Two drug peddlers arrested, charas recovered in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 11: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 4kg of charas in the outskirts of Srinagar city, a police spokesman said on Saturday afternoon.
Acting on the directions of SSP Srinagar, a naka checking was established on Foreshore-Shalimar link road on the bank of Dal Lake today. During the naka police intercepted a car, he said adding later during the search police recovered four kgs of charas.
Two persons Mohammad Ayoub Wani and Mohammad Altaf Parra both residents of Sumbal Bandipora in north Kashmir travelling in the car were arrested.
In this connection, case FIR No. 58/20 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Harwan and investigation has been set into motion.
The civil society has appreciated the efforts of District Police Srinagar in war against drugs. Srinagar Police is committed to continue its offensive against the drug peddlers and will take all endeavours to make Srinagar drugs free. However, Srinagar Police seeks cooperation of general public in their efforts of a drugs free summer capital.
