2 gamblers arrested, stake money recovered in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 8 : Police on Wednesday arrested two gamblers and recovered stake money from them in this summer capital.
A police spokesperson said that a police party raided a gambling site near British School Nowgam following an input about gambling activities and apprehended two gamblers.
He said the officers seized playing cards and stake money of Rs 28700 from the gamblers. “The duo has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Pahroo Nowgam and Zaffer Ahmad Dar, a resident of Meathan Chanapora Srinagar,” he said, adding the accused have been shifted to the Police Station where they remain in custody.
He said a case FIR No 108/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowgam and investigation has been initiated.
“Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” he added.
