Veena Pandita gets extension till 2022

SRINAGAR: The UT government on Monday granted two-year-extension to Veena Pandita as the chairperson of JKBOSE, even as it appointed retired IAS officer Farooq Lone and Zubair Ahmed Raza, District Judge Doda as members of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
Veena Pandita was on Monday appointed as Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education for two more years, till June 30 2022, officials said.
Earlier the government had extended her term as the Chairperson JKBOSE for a period of two months beyond her date of superannuation on April 30 this year.
Pandita’s term had expired on April 04. However, her term for the post was extended by a month beyond her date of superannuation till April 30. On April 08, the government constituted a search committee headed by Financial Commissioner, Finance Department for suggesting a panel of persons for appointment of new chairperson.
However, on April 30, the government further extended Pandita’s term by two more months in view of ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and today, it was extended for 2 more years.
Meanwhile, six days after his retirement as Secretary General Administration Department, IAS officer Dr Farooq Lone was appointed as member of J&K Public Service Commission, along with Zubair Ahmed Raza, district Judge Doda.
Pertinently, on June 26, Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu accorded approval to appointment of six persons as member of the Public Service Commission for the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKPSC members include S. Ahfadul Mujtaba, IPS, Director General, Prosecution, J&K; Syed Iqbal Aga, retired Development Commissioner (Works); Subash Gupta, retired District and Session Judge; Des Raj, Chief Engineer, Public Works (R&B), Jammu; Sameer Bharti, IFS (retired) and Showkat Ahmad Zargar, retired Associate Professor (Mathematics), Higher Education Department.
Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission, BR Sharma, also administered oath of office to the four newly appointed Members.
Two members, Subash Gupta and Sameer Bharti were administered oath at Jammu office, while Syed Iqbal Aga and Showkat Ahmad Zargar were administered oath of office at Srinagar through video conferencing mode.
