JAMMU: At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and three others injured in India’s ruthless retaliation to enemy nation’s unprovoked violation of ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch district on Sunday.
The Pakistan army on Sunday evening resorted to unprovoked shelling on forward areas along the Line of Control in Poonch district, a defence spokesman said.
“At about 19.45 hours, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along the LoC in Balakote sector. Indian Army is retaliating befittingly,” the spokesman said.
While there was no report of any casualty on the Indian side, the enemy nation has suffered heavy damage in Indian retaliation.
As per defence sources, at least two Pakistani soldiers have been killed and three of them have sustained injuries.
“In our retaliatory fire, two Pakistani soldiers including an officer have been killed in Nikial Sector across the Line of Control,” they said.
“Three Pakistani soldiers have sustained injuries - one each in Rakh Chikri and Deva sectors, opposite to Poonch and one in Bagsa sector opposite to our Nowshera sector,” they added.
As many as 14 Indians have been killed and 88 sustained injuries in more than 2,432 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations carried out by Pakistani forces till June this year along the Line of Control and the International Border with an aim to push terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.
The unprovoked ceasefire violations are in contravention of the 2003 ceasefire understanding between the two countries.
