Srinagar: Three persons were injured in a blast at Tosa Maidan an old artillery range in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday, the police said.

The Tosa Maidan had been used as an artillery training area by the Army for many years and in 2014 the area was handed over to J&K by the Army.

The police said an accidental shell blast took place at Tosa Maidan in the Khag area of Budgam resulting in injuries to three persons.

“They were shifted to hospital,” a police officer in Budgam said, adding that they were trying to find out as to how they reached there while Covid-19 lockdown was in place.

A health official said the condition of two of the injured was serious.

The Tosa Maidan artillery firing range, spread over 11,000 kanals, was used by the Army and other security agencies for field firing practices from 1964 to 2014.
