Directs concerned for creation of sustainable assets in rural areas


ANANTNAG, MAY20: District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Dar today chaired a meeting of RDD officers to review the developmental scenario of RDD sector of the district.
On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the officers to ensure water conservation and irrigation works in all 335 panchayat halqas of the district.
He directed the concerned to speed up the works as the people in rural areas have no source of income and by engaging them in MGNREGA works particularly in irrigation works, desilting of irrigation ladhs and water conservation will serve as social initiative.
The DC directed the ACD & BDOs to involve field functionaries at grass roots level and redouble their efforts in achieving the targets and also asked them to pace up the works and ensure cent percent completion of the targeted works within stipulated time frame.
The ACD Anantnag informed the meeting that a total of 1253 works have been prioritized out of which 402 works have been approved for execution in all Panchayat halqas of the district.
He also informed the meeting that during 2019 – 2020 out of 5343 works taken up an expenditure of Rs.3849.416 lacs has been incurred on completion of 1598 works.
The project officer IWSM informed the meeting that 147 works were completed physically with an expenditure of Rs.1.16 crore which include construction of check dams, water harvesting tanks & farm ponds during 2018 – 2019.
The meeting was attended by JD Planning, ACD, DPO, & all BDOs of the district.
