DC B’la inspects and reviews functioning of Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre

BARAMULLA, MAY 20: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today conducted an inspection of Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre, located at Khawjabagh Baramulla and reviewed its functioning.
On the occasion, DC was briefed by Chief Agriculture Officer about 400 growers, currently registered with this sector that have established units and are earning their livelihood.
He also informed the DC that about 109 growers were registered in the current season and 180 quintals of mushroom was harvested in the current harvesting season.
The DC directed the concerned authorities to extend their range of operation and involve more and more youth under various welfare programmes sponsored by the department.
He also urged upon the unemployed youth to come forward and avail benefits of various welfare and self employment schemes.
Moreover, Dr Itoo stressed to disseminate awareness among the people about various new and scientific mushroom cultivating methods so that production and productivity is leveraged.
