Div Com Jammu visits Ramban, inspects quarantine Centres

Asks district Admn to create sampling facilities at Banihal, ensure screening of all passengers

RAMBAN, MAY 19: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma today visited Ramban and took stock of the mechanism put in place for the boarding, lodging, COVID-19 sampling and testing facilities of migrants arriving in the district from other parts of the country. He also reviewed the measures being taken by the district administration for prevention and control of COVID-19 in the district.
The Div Com was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haseeb-ur-Rehman, MD SC/ST Corporation, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, ADC, Ashok Sharma, CMO, Dr. Mohammed Fareed Bhat, besides other concerned officers of health and other departments.
The Div Com directed the district administration to create sampling facility at Banihal besides ensure the checking of all the vehicles and screening of people who reached in the district from other districts as well as states and UTs.
Earlier, Div Com visited COVID Hospital in District Hospital, Ramban, COVID Care Centre established for mild patients, Quarantine Centres including Dharmound, Dhalwas, where he enquired about wellbeing of inmates besides enquiring from officers and doctors about the present status of quarantine and screening of the patients.
Speaking on the occasion, Div Com. said that J&K is one of the front runner UT of country in sampling and testing. At GMC Jammu 1500 Covid-19 tests are being made on daily bases besides Army Command Area, Hospital, Udhampur Laboratory is also conducting more tests in Jammu division to identify COVID-19 positive cases.
He also congratulated the Ramban administration for facilitating the migrants hailing from Kashmir valley and Ladakh during traffic breakdown and prevailing situation. He also appreciated district administration for taking effective steps in all aspects to prevent spread of COVID-19 in the district and handling the people coming from outside the UT in better way.
The Div Com said that it is imperative that all the people coming from other states go through the mandatory protocols and guidelines issued by the administration amid COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that adequate arrangements have been made by the district administration with regard to testing and providing quarantine facilities to the passengers reaching here. He said that health officials must maintain a constant watch on cases and immediate reporting and shifting of those who might develop Covid-19 symptoms.
Meantime, Deputy Commissioner informed the Div Com about the administrative arrangements put in place regarding the containment of COVID-19 including augmentation of health facilities, establishment of COVID hospital, COVID care centre, quarantine facilities, security, food and water arrangements and other facilities at the quarantine centres.
On the occasion, Div Com directed the officers to deal with the situation as per the recommended guidelines and operating procedures and said that everyone has to play their role in combating the deadly disease.
He also directed the health functionaries and district administration to provide better medical facilities to the patients besides ensuring all facilities made available to the people being quarantined at these centres and directed them to take all precautionary measures to contain the infection.
