DDC Bandipora reviews arrangements for Shab-e-Qadar, Eid-ul-Fitr

Ulemas urge people to offer prayers at home, ensure social distancing


BANDIPORA, MAY 19: District Development Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Tuesday chaired a meeting to review arrangements put in place by the district administrations in view of upcoming Shab-e-Qadar, Jumat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting was attended by SSP Bandipora, Rahul Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Exen PDD, Exen PHE, BDC Chairpersons, Tehsildars, Imam-e-Hai, Molvi Khursheed Anwar, Imam Ziarat Aham Shareef Molvi Nazir Ahmad, President Traders Federation and other senior officers.
In view of current COVID-19 Pandemic, threadbare discussion was held in the meeting regarding implementation of lockdown during the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr besides proper sanitation, fumigation, distribution of essential commodities, uninterrupted electricity & water supply besides other arrangements.
During the meeting Deputy Commissioner sought cooperation from the Ulemas, Islamic scholars, civil society and Panchayat representatives in ensuring lock down and social distancing during these auspicious occasions by appealing people to offer prayers at home as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of deadly corona virus.
On the occasion Ulemas assured full cooperation to the administration in ensuring lockdown during the holy month and the upcoming festival.
Imam-e-Hai Moulana Khursheed Anwar said the Ulemas have been lending full cooperation to the administration in fighting the deadly virus and shall continue to do so.
He said Ulemas are repeatedly advising the people to offer prayers at home while maintaining social distancing. He said in the current circumstances when Health experts’ advice to stay away from congregations, the religion also prohibits from going against the advisories. Imam I Hai said that the congregation may be a reason for transmitting the virus in healthy persons and hence people are strongly advised to stay away from congregations.
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned departments to ensure better sanitation and fumigation of all public place including Mosques, lanes and by-lanes besides directing them to ensure proper water and power supply.
Deputy Commissioners directed the concerned to ensure smooth and timely distribution of essential commodities in the district and to monitor the distribution process by seeking details from the concerned Tehsildhars and Patwaris.
He also issued necessary directions to other concerned departments so that people do not face any inconvenience in present COVID-19 situation and asked them to work with dedication, synergy and close coordination so that the people do not face any inconvenience during the upcoming festival.
In order to curb black marketing, profiteering and hoarding on the eve of Eid, he asked the concerned officers to intensify the market checking and take strict legal action against the erring traders. He also urged them to involve all members of Municipal Committees, Sarpanchs and Panchs in market checking drive.
