Twelve fresh cases in Jammu province

JAMMU: Twelve more persons tested positive for Coronavirus in eight districts of Jammu region, including the first case from Doda district, taking the total number of active cases in the province to 98.
While two cases each were reported from Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts, Udhampur, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts registered one new cases each on Monday.
Doda reported its first ever case of Covid-19 when 19-year-old girl from Mohala tested positive on Monday. The girl had returned from Ludhiana and was kept under administrative quarantine at Mezban hotel. After her reports came out positive, she was shifted to GMC Doda, officials said.
With this, the infection has now spread to all the 10 districts in Jammu region.
A 26-year-old man from Satyala village in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur tested positive for Coronavirus while after remaning Corona-free for one-and-a-half months, Kishtwar registered its second positive case when a 20-year-old boy from Tapal Mohalla tested positive. They boy had arrived from Ludhiana in Punjab two days ago and was put under quarantine at Shalimar in the district.
From Kathua, a 46-year-old man from Pali Morh who had recently arrived from Maharashtra and a resident of Shiva Nagar with travel history to Delh tested positive. Both of them were put under quarantine at Government Degree College Kathua and Hiranagar, respectively.
A man with travel history of Punjab and a health department official belonging to Surankote and psoted in Sub District Hospital Surankote were the two fresh cases in Poonch district, following which the authorities declared Fazlabad village from where the latter belonged to, as red zone.
Four other villages in its vicinity including Pamrote, Dandi Dhara, Dhara Mohra and Sanglani have been declared as buffer zone and the administrative quarantine in Christ School Poonch have been declared as containment zone.
Around one hundred officials of health department including doctors, para-medics, sweepers and health administrators were considered as active contacts of the Nursing Orderly who was tested positive earlier in a day.
The details of the other patients from Jammu, Rajouri and Ramban was not immediately known.
With these developments, the number of total active cases in Jammu region has gone up to 98 out of total 160, while 60 of them recovered and two died.
The number of active cases has increased by over 16 times in last two-and-a-half weeks. On April 30, there were only 6 active cases spread over 5 districts of the region, which has today gone up to 98 spread across ten districts.
These include 33 cases in Kathua, 19 cases in Jammu, 7 in Samba, 23 in Ramban, six cases in Udhampur, three cases each in Poonch and Rajouri, two in Reasi and one each in Kishtwar and Doda.
A district-wise breakup reveals that Jammu district has 47 positive cases (including 02 reported today) with 19 active positive cases and 27 recoveries and 01 death; Udhampur has 26 positive cases (including 01 reported today) with 06 active positive case, 19 recovered and 01 death; Samba has 13 positive cases with 07 Active Positive and 06 recoveries; Rajouri has 07 positive cases (including 02 reported today) with 03 active positive cases and 04 recovered; Kathua has 34 positive cases (including 02 case reported today) with 33 Active positive and 01 recovered; Kishtwar has 02 positive case (including 01 reported today) with 01 active positive case and 01 recovered; Ramban has 24 positive case (including 01 reported today) with 23 active positive and 01 recovered; Reasi has 03 positive cases with 02 active positive and 01 recovered, Poonch has 3 positive cases (including 2 reported today) 03 active positive , while Doda has reported today its first Corona active positive case.
A media Bulletin said that out of 88601 test results available, 87312 samples have tested as negative till May 18, 2020.
Additionally, till date 114788 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 29208 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 89 in Hospital Quarantine, 665 in hospital isolation and 18300 under home surveillance. Besides, 66511 persons have completed their surveillance period.
