Labour Department orders not to terminate or stop wages of workers in unorganized sectors

POONCH, APRIL 10: In view of current situation of lockdown due to Corona Virus, Assistant Labour Commissioner Abid Hussain Shah issued an order that the employers shall not terminate the employment particular of casual or contract workers from job or reduce their wages who are unable to attend their duties due to COVID-19.
ALC appealed to the private sector to follow the necessary direction that are being issued by the Government of India/labour department.
He further said that if the workers are living in rented accommodation, the landlords of these properties shall not ask for payment of rent for a period of one month. He said that any violations with regards to implementation/observation the directions issued by higher authorities shall meet with strict action against defaulters.
