A senior health official at SMHS said that the patient breathed last yesterday night and his reports came out positive for coronavirus this morning, making it the third death due to deadly virus.
All the three deaths have taken place in Kashmir Valley. A 65-year-old man from Srinagar was the first fatality in Kashmir on March 26 followed by another man of same age from Tangmarg in Baramulla district who died on March 29.
The family member claimed that the deceased was diabetic and had hypertension and had gone to the hospital for a check-up. However, he was admitted in the ward and was kept inside the ward which was meant for Coronavirus patients.
The deceased patient who had no travel history and was an orchardist, was buried as per the guidelines of MHA in his hometown late Tuesday evening with just 6 people allowed to offer the last rituals.
Other than the deceased, nine more persons from Kashmir division tested positive for Coronavirus on Tuesday.
Four of them are reported in Srinagar, three in Baramulla and two from Bandipora.
“Three of the persons are residents of Lal Bazar, and include 9-year-old and 11-year-old daughters and a nephew of a COVID-19 patient who had returned recently from Kolkata with his test coming positive on March 17. All the three patients were under quarantine at Zakura facility and have now been moved to CD hospital,” sources informed.
The fourth patient from Srinagar is a 25-year-old woman from Eidgah, who had come in contact with the previous patients from the area.
Three patients from Baramulla included a 70-year-old woman whose husband tested positive for the disease last week, a 35-year-old man from Tangmarg, and a 51-year-old female from Sopore, both of them contacts of previous patients.
