DC announces Self defense training, free driving classes, exposure tours for girls


KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 25: To spread the awareness about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, an orientation workshop was today organized here at Government Degree College under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara.
Principal of the college Professor Pawan Sharma; Nodal Officer BBBP Anoop Kumar; NSS Coordinator, Asst. professor Faisal Mushtaq Kichloo; college faculty and a large number of students of the College were present on the occasion.
In his address, the DC announced that a Self-Defense training programme for girls shall be organised in the college in next month.
He further directed the Nodal officer BBBP to distribute books containing inspiring stories and autobiographies among the students especially the girl students. He asked the students to inculcate the habit of reading books as it will bring a revolutionary change in their life.
He further asked the Nodal Officer BBBP to organize free driving courses for the girls and women to help them become independent and develop self confidence to face the challenges of present day life.
The DDC also asked for conducting Exposure tours for the school and college going girls, as such tours will help them to acquire the knowledge of outside world and shun the legacy of remaining confined within the four walls of their houses.
Earlier, several students and College faculty spoke on the status of women in society and relevance of this scheme in present context
