Ban attack: NIA Court remands six OGWs to 15-day judicial custody

JAMMU: A special NIA court here has sent six Overground Workers (OGWs) arrested for their involvement in January 31 terror attack at Ban Toll plaza in Nagrota area, to 15 days judicial custody.
The three JeM Pakistani terrorists were killed and their three associates--- Sameer Ahmad Dar, Sartaj Ahmad Mantoo and Asif Ahmad Malik, all residents of south Kashmir, were arrested during the encounter that broke out when security forces intercepted the truck near Ban Toll Plaza in Nagrota on January 31.
Later, three more OGWs-- Suhail Javed Lone, Zahoor Ahmad Khan and Shoiab Manzoor—all residents of Pulwama were arrested by security agencies for their involvement in the attack.
On Saturday, the six were produced in a special NIA court where Special Judge Subash C Gupta granted 15 days judicial remand of them.
This order was passed in an application filed by Rakesh Balwal- CIO, NIA, Jammu seeking shifting of these OGWs from police custody to judicial custody for 30 days, on remand.
“For the time being, NIA is not in need of further custody of the accused, on police remand,” the court was requested.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has entrusted the investigation to NIA directing the agency to carry out a thorough probe into the circumstances in which the three terrorists had sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir through the International Border at Samba.
