Rape accused who escaped jail re-arrested

JAMMU: A rape accused who had escaped from the custody of Bari Brahmana police station in Samba district two weeks ago, has been re-arrested.
Accused Ravi Kumar (35) was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a girl on January 22. He managed to escape from Bari Brahamana police station on February 5.
Following the incident, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak ordered FIR against three cops and suspended four others for negligence of duty.
“Police had received information that the accused has fled to Delhi, following which a team of officials was sent there. However, the accused escaped from Delhi and boarded a Jammu-bound bus,” officials said.
“On Monday, when the bus reached Sarore Toll Plaza, the accused was re-arrested,” they said.
The accused was later produced before the court and on the direction of the court, he was sent to Hiranagar jail for fifteen days.
