BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 14: District Election Officer (DEO), Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today said that all the requiste arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of panchayat by-elections.
DEO said this while talking to media persons on the sidelines of orientation cum training programme conducted for designated ROs and AROs.
Elaborating, the DEO said that vacant 2163 Panch seats and 148 Sarpanch seats in 26 Blocks are going to polls in 7 phases and the notification for 1st phase will be issued on 15th February and the last date for filing nominations has been fixed as 22 February.
The date for the scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for February 24 and the date for the withdrawal of candidature is 26 February while date of polling wherever necessary is 05 March.
Speaking on the occasion, DEO said that ROs and AROs have a prominent role in the election process and urged them to work in tandem with District Administration for smooth conduct of the poll process.
