Local residents of Neharpora Sopore stage protest against power crisis

Sopore: The residents of Neharpora Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district staged a protest against the prevailing power crisis in their area.

According to reports, residents of Nehrapora blocked Sooore_Srinagar highway at the Iqbal market to register their protest against PDD for failed to upgrade a low voltage transfer in the area.

The protesters while raising slogans against PDD said that they are facing hardships for months but the department hardly bothers to resolve the issue.

“Despite paying electricity bills on time, we don’t receive the electricity despite being close to Sopore power station,” said Farooq Ahmed a protestor to TNN.

He said that in a week only two-three times we residents are getting electricity due to this low voltage transfer, as maximum time it starts defunct. He said that electricity is playing hide and seek since winter begins.


The protesting residents while blaming the administration for not attending to their grievances which in result they are facing immense hardships due to continue power crisis in their area..

The protestors urged the higher authorities of PDD to take necessary steps and solve their problem.

Meanwhile, Station House officer Sopore Azim Iqbal after assured protesters matter will be taken to higher authorities traffic was restored both sides.
