Chairman PCB inaugurates Divisional Office at IGC Bari Brahmana

JAMMU, JANUARY 27: Chairman J&K Pollution Control Board Suresh Chugh inaugurated the Divisional Office Cum Laboratory building at SIDCO Industrial Complex EPIP Kartholi, Bari Brahmana.
B.M. Sharma, Member Secretary J&K PCB, Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain, Regional Director, Jammu and Rafi Bhat, SFS Regional Director PCB Kashmir, Lalit Mahajan, President Bari Brahmana Industrial Association and other members of Industrial Association Bari Brahmana and Birpur Industrial estate besides other officials of PCB and local panchs/sapranchs were also present on the occasion.
The building has been constructed by Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 65.0 lakh which included a laboratory for the testing and monitoring of air and water industrial emissions.
While addressing the gathering, Chairman J&K PCB stressed upon the industrialists and other stake holders to strictly adhere to the norms of pollution control board and NGT directions and also to operate the installed pollution control devises and effluent treatment plants regularly.
He also issued instructions to the PCB officers to be vigilant and monitor the units on regular basis and report immediately the violations and take action against the defaulting units.
He further added that construction of Divisional Office Cum Laboratory building was a long pending demand of the Industrial Associations of Bari Brahmna and Birpur within the Industrial area so that the problems faced by them for timely submission of the mandatory compliances under different pollution control Acts which shall be addressed.
Member Secretary J&K PCB informed that very soon the laboratory for monitoring the parameters of effluent/emissions will be started in the building.
A plantation drive was also carried during the inaugural function various plants of different species including Chinar, Golden Qupresses and Palm etc were planted.
