B’pora admin to maintain growth chart to identify malnutrition, stunted growth in children

BANDIPORA, JANUARY 27: The District Administration Bandipora is all set to maintain growth chart of every child born in the district to identify malnutrition and stunted growth in children.
This was stated by Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad during a Workshop-cum-training programme held here today for ICDS workers including Anganwari Workers and Supervisors who were trained to record the growth chart and Panchayat Development Index (PDI).
He said that the growth charts will be made available at the 803 ICDS centers of the district to record height and weight of every child on monthly basis.
While discussing the importance of maintaining a growth chart, he said that it will help in tracking the growth of a child and addressing need for special nutrition.
The resource person on the occasion also deliberated upon the recording of PDI. He said the PDI aims to capture movement in development at grass root level and to observe the impact of centrally sponsored schemes at Panchayat level. He said that the Panchayat Development Index is first of its kind in Jammu & Kashmir and has been prepared after detailed discussions with line departments.
He said that there are 81 outcome indicators spread over six thematic areas of Health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture and allied sectors, Skill and Self Employment, Financial inclusion and Basic infrastructure.
He urged the ICDS workers to maintain growth chart of every child on regular basis to eradicate malnutrition in the district.
