JAMMU: A Reasi court on Friday ordered for registration of FIR against a conman, who allegedly duped a person of Rs 22.50 Lakh on the pretext of Trat Gola—a rare and unique stone which is formed due to lightening in the sky.

A person in Reasi complained to police that one Mohamad Shariff of Jindrah in Jammu promised to sell him a Trat Gola, claiming its value in international market is in crores of rupees, for an amount of Rs 22,50,000.

The complainant deposited the amount of money to Shariff but he never handed over him the stone, leading him to file a complaint with the police.

However, despite credible prima facie evidence being made available to SHO Police Station Reasi, the concerned SHO did not register the FIR and instead asked the complainant to approach Crime Branch, following which he knocked the door of the court.

On Friday, when the matter was taken up for hearing the chief judicial magistrate Reasi Amarjeet Singh Langeh directed the SHO Police Station Reasi to register FIR against the accused under relevant provisions of law forthwith and submit compliance report within two days.

He also noted that the course adopted by SHO Police Station Reasi in this regard is ‘not consistent with law to say the least’. JNF
