Takes stock of preparations for presentation of J-K tableaux 2020

JAMMU, JANUARY 22- Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Munir-ul-Islam Wednesday visited the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp New Delhi to take stock of preparations for presentation of J-K tableaux and cultural programme at the Republic Day Parade 2020.
This year’s tableaux will depict the rich cultural legacy of Jammu and Kashmir through the back-to-village initiative, showcasing centuries old shawl weaving traditions, Basohli art forms, besides the copper work and paper-mache traditions of the Union territory.
Elucidating the theme of the tableaux, Munir said that it is innovatively designed with emphasis on promoting the Basohli School of traditional paintings of Jammu with the crafts of Kashmir in the backdrop of folk music and dance traditions of the twin regions.
“Throughout its history numerous civilizations have left their imprint on the cultural mosaic of Jammu and Kashmir and as such the tableaux will depict the cultural life and traditional arts and crafts of the Union territory,” he said.
While taking stock of arrangements for the forthcoming programme, the Secretary JKAACL also had one-on-one interactions with the participating artists, who expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the organizers for their comfortable stay at the venue.
Expressing satisfaction over the efforts of the designer, artists and staff in making the tableaux presentable, the Secretary JKAACL hoped that the tableaux of the Union territory will make its mark at the forthcoming Republic Day parade.
