JAMMU: Contrary to the recent directions of Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, the website for J&K Global Investors’ Summit is yet to make an online presence.
In the first week of January, Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi had directed the representatives of Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC) and Ernst & Young (EY) to develop a website for the much aggrandized J&K Global Investors’ Summit under the domain www.jkinvestorssummit.com with relevant content regarding the summit in a time bound manner.
However, the aforementioned domain of the website can’t be found on internet. Probably because it is hasn’t been registered or launched till date. Also, a possibility is that the domain name mentioned in the official document is misspelled, and it is www.jkinvestorsummit.com, that is, with a single‘s’.
According to the website who.is, which is used to search domain names of the websites, the domain name www.jkinvestorssummit.com is not registered and is available to be used by anyone, while the domain name www.jkinvestorsummit.com was registered on 22nd August 2019 and is valid till 22nd August 2020. Even the website with this domain doesn’t open, hinting that it is still under construction.
J&K’s maiden investors’ summit, earlier scheduled to be held in October 2019, raised eyebrows when it was postponed within a fortnight of its announcement. With Murmu taking the charge of the government, preparations commenced again for the event.
Further, on January 20, Lieutenant Governor of J&K GC Murmu, led his team to a first of its kind pre-summit investors’ meet, essentially a curtain raiser, held at New Delhi, in a bid to invite investments from across the world by highlighting the untapped potential of the union territory. But the absence of a dedicated website for the event will to some extent play a negative role.
Rahul, a local businessman, says, “PWC has to make a media plan since it is the media management partner. Isn’t it an act of irresponsibility that the event does not have a website or social media accounts after Commissioner Secretary’s directions?”
He adds, “How will the officers ensure adequate publicity of the event as well as of J&K’s investment potential to prospective investors and budding entrepreneurs, when they don’t even have a website or social media accounts,” says Rahul, a local businessman.
Pertinently, PWC is the media management partner while EY is the knowledge partner for the event, who have been directed to work in close coordination with Information Department for the event promotion.
Another local businessman, Sushant, says, “We want the investors’ summit to happen. Ultimately, it going to be beneficial for our J&K. Hopefully, the concerned authorities will make sincere efforts for the event to be successful.”
