LG Mathur gets more powers

JAMMU: The President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday delegated more power to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur for the recruitment of non-gazetted employees in Union Territory.

“The powers were conferred by the proviso to the article 309 of the Constitution of India. Now the Lieutenant Governor authorized to make rules for recruitment of non-gazetted officers,” an official spokesperson said.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to the article 309 of the Constitution of India, the President of India hereby directs that the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh will exercise the power to make rules in regard to the following matters including the method of recruitment to all Group'B' (Non-Gazetted) and Group'C' posts under his administrative control in connection with the affairs of Union Territory of Ladakh,” reads the order.

“The qualifications necessary for appointment to such services and posts and the conditions of service of persons appointed to such services and posts for the purposes of probation, confirmation, seniority and promotion,” order reads further.
