Awareness cum distribution camp organized at Kupwara

KUPWARA, OCTOBER 19: District Red Cross Society (DRCS) in collaboration with Social Welfare and School Education Department district Kupwara organised awareness cum distribution camp at Tourist Reception Centre here today. The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg who is also the chairman of District Red Cross Committee was Chief Guest on the occasion.
Among others Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Mohamad Ashraf Bhat, ADC, CMO, CEO, AD Handloom and Handicrafts besides other District Officers were present on the occasion.
Speakers highlighted the State and Centre sponsored schemes launched by Government of India on this occasion.
The District Red Cross Society, Kupwara distributed 6 motorized tricycles, 64 wheel chairs, 20 old aged sticks and other equipment to specially- abled persons. Sanction to Rs 1000 per month for 56 handicapped persons was also given approval on spot while 20 more persons were identified as disabled by Medical Board Kupwara and registered for similar benefits.
The Chief Education Officer informed that more than 3050 disabled students are registered in various government schools and 41 students are getting education at their homes by special tutors of the department.
On the occasion, the DDC asked all the concerned departments to conduct similar awareness camps in the far flung areas of the district so that other people could also be benefitted.
