DDC Budgam reviews winter preparedness

BUDGAM, OCTOBER 19: The District Development Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of the arrangements to be put in place for the ensuing winter season.
The meeting among others was attended by CPO, CMO, DIO, AD FCS&CA, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B, PHE and other concerned.
During the meeting, the DDC emphasized on keeping men and machinery ready to ensure timely redressal of weather vagaries and subsequent interruptions of supply of water, electricity and road closure due to snowfall during the winter months.
He said that a round the clock Control Room shall be established with a facility of landline phone service to mitigate any crisis or emergency situation during winters.
At the outset, CMO Budgam informed the chair that sufficient stock of drugs, emergency medicine and ambulance service are available with the Health department for the winter season.
Executive Engineer MED informed that 12 machines are at disposal for snow clearance and order for the snow cutters and blowers has been already placed to make these essential machinery available for the winter season.
The DDC directed the AD FCS&CA to ensure winter stocking by the end of the ongoing month to avoid any crisis or shortage of ration and other essential commodities which may be caused by the Highway closure due to inclement weather.
Stressing on proper sanitation and garbage lifting and dumping, the EOs of municipal committees were instructed to clear all dumping sites before the onset of winter.
The DDC said that 12 additional transformers have been already allotted to PDD as buffer stock to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the district.
