BBBP campaign: Health department hosts debate competition at Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH, OCTOBER 19: A debate competition under ‘Save Girl Child’ Campaign (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao) was today organized here at Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah.
Students of local institutions expressed their views on the topic "Save the girl child" at the competition organized by Health Department.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Dr. Sagar D. Doifode was the Chief Guest and inaugurated debate competition.
The participating students were Sonika Bhgotra, Sabiya Naseer, Taranum Naz and Nargis Nelofer from Girls HR. Sec. School Bhaderwah. Radhika Wazir, Insha Ikhlaq, Saika Naseer and Salma Iqbal from Govt Degree College Bhaderwah, and Alifa Anayat, Vijay Lakshmi, Bindya Sambiyal and Hemani Manhas from Gurukul Institute of Para Medical Studies.
The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah Rajinder Khajuria, Block Medical Officer Dr. Hameed Zargar, Senior Citizens, Health workers, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, besides a number of students from different schools and college were also present.
In his inaugural address, DC Doda highlighted the need to work for the betterment of girl child in the society. He said that there are several issues related to girl child including foeticide, discrimination in education, nutrition and honour which require deep deliberations so that remedial measures are worked out and thus implemented.
He said "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" campaign has proved quite fruitful in creating mass awareness regarding the importance of girls in building a balanced society.
