DDC Anantnag reviews functioning of Municipal Council, Municipal Committees

ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 18: The District Development Commissioner, Anantnag Mr. Khalid Jahangir today chaired a meeting with the Municipal Counselers of Anantnag to review the sanitation, development works & tendering process of the works sanctioned under 14th FC.
He directed the EO, MC Anantnag to submit the proposal for purchase of machinery and other accessories including snow cutters, dumpers, loader, hoppers & solar lights to be purchased under 14th FC allocation through Jump Portal. He also directed the EO to ensure demolishing of illegal structures & not to allow construction works without permission from the concerned authority. He also asked for monitoring the construction works as per guidelines and permission granted by the MC.
The Counsellors of MC Anantnag put forth their demands and raised some issues regarding constitution of market checking squads to ensure regular market checking of the Anantnag town, functioning of solar lights, construction of slaughter house at the identified location, allotment of land for the BPL families for construction of houses under Housing For All Scheme, fee structure for private schools, construction of Marriage Hall at Kadipora and release of salary of counselors.
In a separate meeting held with the EO’s, presidents, vice presidents and ward members of MC Mattan, MC Achabal and MC Phalagam, the DDC directed them to ensure procurement of machinery and equipment including dumpers, succors, hoppers, loaders, dust bins and solar lights immediately through Jump Portal under 14th FC. He also directed them to focus on collection of used plastics, sanitation and segregation of waste material on scientific basis on priority. The presidents, vice presidents and other ward members of these Municipal Committees raised some issues regarding the purchase of machinery, identifying of land for Dumping Sites, non functioning of street lights, construction of New Shopping Complexes income generation, construction of Community Centers, handing over of Bus Stand Achabal constructed by Kokernag Development Authority to ensure Traffic regulation in Achabal Town, up gradation of parks and release of unpaid salary of the ward members.
The DDC assured the ward members of Municipal Counsel Anantnag and ward members of MC’s of Achabal, Mattan and Pahalgam that their genuine problems and issues will be addressed in phased manner. He also directed them to submit the revised estimates for construction of Community Centers under languishing projects and to construct slaughter houses in all the MC’s.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Executive Officers of MC, Anantnag MC’s of Achabal, Mattan, Pahalgam , Counsellors and ward members.
