Jal Jeevan Mission: DDC Rajouri finalises implementation strategy

RAJOURI, OCTOBER, 18: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today convened an officers meeting to finalize strategy for implementation of ‘Jal Jeevan Mission- Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’.
During the meeting, the DDC sought information regarding the per capita demand of drinking water in both rural and urban areas and situation of the ground water table of the district. He directed the officers of PHE department to conduct a survey about the demand and supply of drinking water in both rural and urban location and also sought household wise list of uncovered habitations.
DDC said the Jal Jeevan Mission is set to be based on various water conservation efforts like point recharge, desilting of minor irrigation tanks, use of grey water for agriculture and source sustainability. It will also involve convergence of schemes to achieve its objectives of sustainable water supply management across the district.
Regarding awareness on the Mission, it was decided in that a mega Jal Jeevan Mission mela will be organised besides holding of the district and block level Advocacy workshops.
District Panchayat Officer, Dr Abdul Khabir informed that a special training for the frontline workers of the line department will be held on 25th of October at all block headquarters.
DDC asked the SE PHE and I&FC to compile the books regarding the guidelines and activities to be carried out under IEC so that the concept of the Mission could percolate at the grass root level.
