PWD official booked for Rs 1.2 Crore DAs

JAMMU: A Public Works Department official was on Tuesday booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in a case of disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.22 Crore in Ramban district.
During his posting as incharge head assistant of Ramban PWD (Roads and Buildings) division, Mohammad Aslam Parray illegally accumulated assets, an ACB spokesperson said.
The ACB Doda registered a case under FIR No.08/2019 u/s 5(1)(e) J&K P.C. Act. Svt 2006 against Parray and started investigation.
The accused public servant had acquired immovable and movable properties. A verification was conducted into allegations against him, the spokesman said.
Some of these properties are registered in his name, while others were purchased in the name of his family members, he said.
The properties include a triple storey building at Dharmound road Batote worth around Rs 80 lakh, a plot of land worth Rs 18 lakh for Indian gas agency and a single storey house built near gas agency valuing Rs 20 lakh, he said.
The PWD official also owns a car, luxurious household items, costly electronics gadgets and jewellery, the spokesperson said.
After obtaining search warrant from the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Doda, ACB teams were constituted and deputed to conduct house searches of the accused public servant at Batote, Ramban. During searches of his house in Batote by the bureau, some incriminating documents, including ownership papers of a gas agency, were seized, he said.
An investigation into the matter is underway, he said.
