Man kills his wife, surrenders later

JAMMU: In a shocking incident, a man today killed his wife by slitting her throat at their residence in the old city and later surrendered himself to the police.

The incident took place at Peer Mitha.

“Yaqoob Khan had a verbal spat with his wife at their residence on Saturday. The argument soon turned ugly and Khan slit his wife’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon,” a police officer informed The News Now.

The deceased has been identified as Iqbala Bibi.

Police said that after executing the crime, Khan-- the accused surrendered himself before the police.

"Yaqoob Khan appeared before police and narrated the incident. He told us that he had slit Iqbala’s wife with a sharp-edged weapon,” the officer said.

The reason behind the murder is stated to be a quarrel between them over some family issues.

Police have lodged a case in this connection and the body of the deceased was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for postmortem.
