JAMMU: Lack of coordination among various government agencies may trouble the upcoming ambitious J&K Investor Summit-2019. While the government is gearing up for three-day long Summit to be held from October 12-14 at Srinagar and Jammu, the authorities are likely to suspend flight operations from Jammu Airport for the first half of the same month, for the construction work for its expansion.
The Investor Summit will commence on October 12 at Srinagar, followed by (transit/ sightseeing) on October 13 and closing on October 14 at Jammu.
Ironically, there are no flights between Jammu Airport and any other airports across the country from 1 October to 15 October. However, there are no official words from the government on the issue.
As per reports, currently, 25 different companies operate flights regularly from Jammu airport. All the online booking portals including Paytm, Goibibo and Makemytrip are not showing any details of flights between Jammu Airport and any other airports across the country and vice-versa for the said dates or even days before that.
However, the flights are available between Srinagar Airport and any other airports across the country.
“The investors can directly land at Srinagar airport from any part of country to participate in the inaugural session of J&K Investor Summit-2019. But the investors have to travel by road to participate in the closing ceremony of the summit, which is scheduled to held in Jammu on October 14th,” an airport official told The News Now.
“The travel time from Jammu to Srinagar by road is around 8-9 hours. If the investors participate in sightseeing programme on October 13, it may be not possible for him/her to enthusiastically participate in the closing ceremony, which is scheduled to held on October 14th in Jammu,” an another official said.
Announcing the J&K Investor Summit-2019 on August 13, government had said it will provide the State with an opportunity to showcase its strengths, strategies and potential.
“It will present immense opportunities to develop contacts between State and business community and between local and outside business community. For the State like J&K, the Investor Summit will provide an opportunity to allay fear and apprehensions from the minds of outside trade and business community,” the government had said.
