School holidays extended, will reopen on Jul 22

JAMMU: Bringing joy to school children in summer zone of Jammu Division, the state government on Monday extended the summer vacations for one week. The schools were earlier scheduled to open on Tuesday, July 16.

“The government has extended summer vacations for students. The Schools will reopen on next Monday, the 22nd of July,” Director School Education Anuradha Gupta said.

“In continuation of to Government Order No: 188 of EDU of 2019 dated 27.5.2019, it is hereby order that summer vacation in all Government Educational institutions and recognized private schools falling summer zone of Jammu Division is extended up to 21st July 2019,” an official order issued by Commissioner Secretary to Government School Education department Sarita Chauhan reads.

However, the teaching and non-teaching staff of government schools has been asked to report for duty on Monday.

“Private schools, who have pre-scheduled events or examinations during the extended time period are allowed be conducted as per scheduled, subject to condition that no outdoor activities are conducted after 11: 00 am and no students is retained in the schools for any activity beyond 12:30 pm,” the order added.
