National Lok Adalat held across Jammu Division

JAMMU, JULY 13: The National Lok Adalat was today held across Jammu Division wherein various pre and post litigation cases related o different matters were taken.
At Jammu, the National Lok Adalat held at District Court Complex, Janipur. Comprising ten benches, the Lok Adalat took up 4685 cases and disposed of 4164 cases with a settlement amount of Rs 37,29,62,587.
The Lok Adalat was held under the Chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu, Vinod Chatterji Koul, and under the overall supervision of Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Naushad Ahmed Khan.
Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah, and R.S. Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
At Poonch, the National Lok Adalat was held across this border district settling 336 cases.
It was held under the chairmanship of Madan Lal Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt &Sessions Judge) Poonch.
A total of 387 cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat which included civil, criminal, MACT, Bank Recovery, Pre-Litigation cases of which 336 cases were decided by benches constituted benches in each Tehsil by way of Mediation, Conciliation and compromise.
Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Bank Employees, litigants and general public participated with full enthusiasm.
On the onset of the National Lok Adalat, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Poonch Madan Lal highlighted the positive aspects of Lok Adalat and described it as the need of the hour. He stressed upon general public to come forward to take benefit of these Lok Adalats.
At Bhaderwah, the National Lok Adalat were organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Bhaderwah (Doda) today here under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar Shavan, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Bhaderwah.
The Lok Adalat comprised of 05 benches in which various MACT cases, Bank Matters, Civil Cases, Labour disputes, Civil and Criminal cases etc. pending before different courts at Bhaderwah, Doda & Gandoh and also pre-litigation cases were taken up for amicable settlement.
A total of 312 cases were taken up, out of which 235 cases were disposed and an amount of Rs 1,83,24,800/- was settled in the MACT cases, Bank recovery and other criminal compoundable cases. On this occasion Senior & Junior Advocates of Bar Association Bhaderwah/Doda and prominent citizens besides large number of litigants were present in the day long proceedings.
At Udhampur, the National Lok Adalat, was organized by District Legal Services Authority, here at District Court Complex.
Cases related to bank matters, recovery suits, traffic challans, Civil, Criminal compoundable and matrimonial cases were taken up and were settled amicably through settlement.
National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, and Chairman DLSA M L Manhas. Eight benches were constituted in the across the district.
A total of 511 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which, 275 were settled on the spot.
An amount of Rs 7310, 000 was realized in MACT cases while a total of Rs 4,98,370 was settled in various bank cases & 138 N.I Act cases. Besides, fine amounting Rs 97,140/- was realized in respect of various criminal compoundable cases and an amount of Rs 20,000 was settled in Matrimonial cases.
Meanwhile National lok Aalat was held at Chenani by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee. A total 21 cases pertaining to compoundable Civil and Criminal nature were taken up, of which 11 were disposed of .14 Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed. The compounding fine of Rs.4900/was also recovered on spot and Loan Amount of Rs 26,190 was settled in bank case.
At Ramban, the National Lok Adalat was held under the Chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge Ramban, Kishore Kumar who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA),.
Two Benches were constituted at District Court Complex Ramban. The main bench was headed by Pr. District and Sessions Judge Ramban, Kishore Kumar and assisted by Secretary DLSA, Amit Sharma.
One bench each for Batote, Gool, Banihal and Ukhral was also constituted.
A total 1400 Cases were taken up out of which 1027 cases were disposed of. An amount of Rs 14,92,000 was released as compensation and fine. A large number of litigants also participated in the National Lok Adalat besides esteemed members of the Bar including the president of Bar.
At Kishtwar, the District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Kishtwar organized a National Lok Adalat.
Organised at District Court Complex, the Lok Adalat was held under the Chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Sham Lal Lalhal,, for the settlement of the cases referred by different Courts of District Kishtwar.
As many as 354 cases were referred to National Lok Adalat, out of which 222 were amicably decided. A settlement of Rs 10,35000 was awarded to the parties in MACT cases.
The members of Bar Association Kishtwar and public at large participated in the National Lok Adalat today.
