DDC Kathua reviews implementation of Jal shakti Abhiyaan

KATHUA, JULY 12: District Development Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Raghav Langer today chaired a meeting with concerned District Officers to discuss the modalities for efficient execution of Jal Shakti Abhiyaan in the district.
Threadbare discussion was held on the five critical areas of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan which include water conservation and rain water harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures, watershed development and intensive afforestation.
The District Development Commissioner directed the BDOs, engineers of PHE and I&FC, VLWs, Gram Rozgar Sewaks, Technical Assistants and other concerned field functionaries to conduct visits of Gram Panchayats in order to formulate a plan of Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district.
He also asked Executive Engineer, PHE to share the water conservation plan of the district conceived by PHE and Irrigation Departments with Rural Development and other Departments so that Jal Shakti Abhiyaan can be strengthened.
The DDC further directed clearing encroachments on water bodies and their proper maintenance.
ACD, Sukhpal Singh presented a brief overview of various water conservation works undertaken by Rural Development Department in convergence of MGNREGA, IWMP and 14 FC.
The DDC directed the BDOs to gear up their men and machinery to realize the targets of Jal Shakti Abhiyaan and also motivate the Panchs and Sarpanchs to ensure their participation.
Chief Agriculture Officer and District Horticulture Officer were also directed to work in tandem with BDOs to achieve maximum penetration under the scheme.
Earlier, DDC took review of various ongoing schemes of Billawar with officers of line Departments.
Issues related to paucity of Doctors, Teachers and Lecturers were discussed besides earlier completion of PDD workshop was also stressed by the DDC.
The DDC directed the ADC Billawar and DFO to identify a land for Solid Waste Management Plant.
Several deputations also met the DDC and asked for operationalisation of non-functional Niabat building at Bhaddu.
Later, the DDC visited an awareness camp organized by the Employment Department regarding PM Shram Yogi Mann Dhan Scheme at Gurha Kalyal(B) panchayat.
ADDC, Dr. Shubra Sharma, CAO, DFOs, PO IWMP, and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
