DDC Shopian reviews progress of ongoing developmental works
Stresses on time bound completion of developmental works

SHOPIAN, JULY 11: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian Dr Owais Ahmed today convened a meeting here to review the progress of various developmental projects including languishing projects and action taken report on previous year's District Level Board decisions in the district.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, SDM Zainapora, Chief Planning Officer and all District and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon concerned officers to complete all ongoing works within the stipulated time frame without any delay and create durable and tangible assets of public utility for sustainable development. The officers were asked to work with added zeal and dedication and in close coordination for the development of the district.
DDC said that major projects have been identified to be completed on top priority basis in the district including Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar Shopian, District Hospital Shopian, Polytechnic College, Trenz Sheikhpora Bridge, Reshinagri Bridge, Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel, JNV Aglar, Indoor Stadium Arhama, Bijbehara Shopian road, Aglar Shopian road and Augmentation of Shopian town and Receiving Station Keller besides other vital projects being executed in the district.
Threadbare discussions were held on the progress achieved on board decisions taken in previous year. The chair directed the concerned officers to implement all the board decisions in time bound manner for the development of the district besides socio- economic upliftment of the people. He further said that any laxity in this regard shall be dealt strictly.
During the meeting, the DDC was given detailed overview through a power point presentation about the progress made under different sectors including Roads and Buildings, PHE, Health, Irrigation, Flood Control, Mughal Road, Mechanical Irrigation, Power Development department, Social Welfare, Education and other departments. The DDC stressed on the officers to organise training in the rural areas for motivating people living in the far-flung area to take benefits of various schemes and programmes.
He also reviewed the initiatives taken for improving skill development and capacity building of the beneficiaries under various flagship centrally and state sponsored schemes and programmes.
Dr Owais said a comprehensive plan would be decided involving different departments for skill development under various schemes to create employment avenues for the unemployed youth in an integrated manner. He stressed on judicious utilisation of funds besides implementation of all the decisions taken in the DDB meetings in letter and spirit.
DDC also directed the concerned to accelerate the pace of work and emphasized on coordination between the line departments to avoid any delay in the execution of work.
