Hospital waste management reviewed at Ramban

RAMBAN JULY, 10: A meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) was held today to review the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) management and handling in the district.
District Magistrate (DM), Showkat Aijaz Bhat chaired the meeting attended by CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, CMO, Dr. Iqbal Bhat, XEN PHE, Bashir Ahmed, District Officer, State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Anupam Koul, EO, MC Ramban, Ravinder Kumar and various concerned officers.
The Government has constituted DLMCs to oversee the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Management and handling at district level.
District Officer, SPCB apprised the meeting about status of implementation of Air and Water Act and receiving online application for the consent under Air and Water Act and authorisation under DMW rules 2016.
The DM directed the CMO and BMOs to submit online applications of all the health institutions of their respective jurisdictions for taking consent and authorisation from the concerned department.
He directed the officers to submit annual report within four days. EO, MCs were directed to ensure separate disposal of Bio-medical waste and Soiled.
