JAMMU: After a brief lull on the Line of Control, the Pakistani Army on Sunday evening violated the ceasefire in Poonch, resulting into injuries to three civilians including two girls even as the cowardice of enemy nation was being retaliated ‘very strongly’ by Indian Army.

Indian and Pakistan troops traded heavy fire on the LoC in Poonch after the Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on Indian positions, Defence Ministry spokesman, Lt Col. Devender Anand, said.

“Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation starting with firing of small arms followed by shelling with mortars along LoC in Poonch Sector at about 1930 hours on Sunday,” he said.

Pakistan army targeted Indian positions in Kirni, Qasba and Mendhar areas in Poonch and the Indian positions retaliated effectively, he said.

However, in the Pak shelling, three persons, including two girls, were injured in Kirni, Qasba and Bandi Chechian areas of Poonch.

"The injured civilians have been shifted to hospital where attending doctors said they are out of danger," police said.

“Indian Army is retaliating beffitingly,” Lt Col Kalia said.

Defence sources said that our troops have inflicted heavy damages on the other side of the border.
While they didn’t put any number of it, they said that heavy damage including loss of life and enemy’s posts has been caused.
