2 LeT ultras killed 4 held while trying to cross LoC

SRINAGAR: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district on Friday.
Based on inputs about the presence of militants, security forces comprising troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation in village Braw Bandina of Awantipora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district early Friday morning, a police spokesman said.
“Security forces sealed all exit points and launched house to house searches,” he said, adding when the search party was moving towards a particular area, militants hiding there, opened fire with automatic weapons.
The security forces retaliated ensuing in an encounter.
“Two militants were killed in the exchange of fire,” he said, adding arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site.
The slain militants were identified as Irfan Ahmad Degu alias Abu Zarar, a resident of Naina Litter Pulwama, and Tasaduk Amin Shah of Kadlabal Pampore, the spokesman said.
Both of them were affiliated with proscribed outfit LeT and were wanted by law for their complicity in terror crimes, including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities, he said.
"According to police records, Degu was part of groups involved in planning and executing series of terror attacks in the area and many other civilian atrocities. He was involved in a case pertaining to attack on security forces in Ellahibagh Pulwama in which one jawan was killed, the spokesman said.
"Shah was involved in killing of a civilian. Several terror crime cases were registered against both of them," he said.
“Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were seized from the site of the encounter. All these materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes,” he said.
Internet mobile service has been suspended in Pulwama as a precautionary measure to prevent any rumours.
Meanwhile, four Kashmiri youths were arrested on Friday while trying to cross over the Line of Control (LoC) into the Pakistan administered Jammu and Kashmir to start arms training.
“Based on a specific input about the movement of the newly recruited group which was on their way to exfiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) via upper reachs of Limber area in Boniyar, a joint team of 161 TA army, Baramulla police and 53 bn of CRPF apprehended all of them late last night,” official sources said.
An Army officer identified them as Adil Ahmad Dar (22) son of Ghulam Hassan Dar of Hardu Hangir Yaripora Kulgam, Tahir Shamim Lone (19) son of Shamim Ahmad Lone of Kapren Shopian, Sameer Bhat (18) son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Seer Dari Sopore and Naveed Parra (19) son of Ghulam Nabi Parra of Tapper Pattan.
The officer said that after questioning the youths were handed over to police for further investigations and necessary action.
Pertinently, Sameer was missing since June 10 and his family had also filed a report in police station Tarzoo.
