DLSA Ganderbal organizes multi-service camp for senior citizens

GANDERBAL, JUNE 12: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal organized multi-service camp for Senior citizens at Town Hall Ganderbal in connection with the celebration of World elder abuse awareness day on 15th June 2019.
A good number of prominent elders and senior citizens attended the camp. The event was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Central University of Kashmir Prof. Dr. Mehraj-ud-din in the presence of Principal District & Sessions Judge Ganderbal, Mohd Yousuf Wani, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal and Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.
The participants availed the facility of medical check-ups as a medical team made available by CMO Ganderbal was part of the mega camp. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal appraised the elders about different welfare schemes in place for the aged, poor and disabled persons.
Some hearing aids were distributed among the beneficiaries on the spot. The speakers on the occasion stressed for inculcating the moral and ethical values among the youth and students so that they may understand their responsibilities and obligations of respect, care and protection towards the elders. The elders on the occasion got entertained by cultural programmes facilitated by District Information Officer Ganderbal.
Vice Chancellor Central University Kashmir Professor Dr. Mehraj-ud-din stressed for moral up-bringing of the children and inculcation of great values of humanity and respect towards elders in them. Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal provided full co-operation to the DLSA Ganderbal for organizing the event.
Among others, the camp was attended by ADDC, ADC, ASP, EO Municipality, DIO and other concerned.
