Pre-Monsoon showers likely to hit J&K by July 10 to 12

Jammu, Jun 12 : People of this winter capital of the state will heave a sigh of relief as pre-monsoon showers are likely to hit the state of Jammu and Kashmir likely between July 10 to 12.
“The monsoon has already hit the coastal India delayed by a week,” Sonam Lotus, Director, MeT, Jammu and Kashmir here told .
He added that keeping in mind the delay arrival of monsoon, now it will be delayed by a week and likely to hit the parts of Jammu and Kashmir by July 10 to 12.
Mr Lotus said that pre-monsoon showers will bring some respite from the scorching heat.
The maximum temperature in Jammu is fluctuating between 40 degrees to 44 degrees.
However, partially cloudy day with showers and thunderstorm brought some relief on Wednesday.
The winter capital on Monday sizzled at maximum temperature 44.4 Degree Celsius and there was no respite from the prevailing heat wave conditions.
The schools however, are closed in summer zone of Jammu region for vacations from June 1 to July 16.
People preferred to stay indoors while the famous hill stations like Patnitop, Sanasar, Mantalai, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar also witnessed heavy rush of visitors while people have also rushed to neighbouring Himachal Pradesh in the vacations.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine also witnessing heavy rush of Pilgrims not only from the state but across the country in view of summer holidays.
The Government reviewed the functioning of the Power Development Department in Jammu division and called for improving the overall power scenario.
