Jammu, Samba side with BJP; Rajouri, Poonch Cong’s solace
BJP led 15 assembly segments of Jammu PC, Cong 5

JAMMU: The BJP’s victory from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary seat was ensured by Jammu and Samba districts from where the party managed to get mammoth leads, while the Congress Party got leads from Rajouri and Poonch Districts, still insufficient to counter the saffron party’s votes.

There are 20 assembly segments in Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency out of which the BJP got leads in 15 segments from which 13 were from Jammu and Samba.

Besides 13 Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Samba district, the BJP also got leads from Nowshera and Kalakote assembly segments represented last by party’s state president Ravinder Raina and former minister AG kohli.

The Congress managed to get leads from 5 assembly segments falling in Rajouri and Poonch Districts. In 2014, the BJP had leads in 17 assembly segments of Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency.

The Congress secured leads in Darhal, Rajouri, Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch-Haveli assembly segments.

In Jammu District, Jammu West gave BJP the maximum lead of over 65000 votes of all the segments from where it secured leads.

From Jammu West, BJP got mammoth 81209 votes, while the Congress got only 15081 votes. This was followed Akhnoor Assembly segment where BJP lead of over 59000 votes.

The BJP also got 68641 votes, while Congress got could get only 8900 votes Akhnoor Assembly segment.

Raipur-Domana constituency from Jammu District also gave big lead to BJP. Here, BJP secured a lead of over 53000 votes. The BJP got 64973, while the Congress could get only mere 11771 votes.

From Samba, BJP got 52538 votes, while the Congress got only 11127 votes. From Vijaypur, BJP got 60886 votes, while the Congress got 16839 votes. This constituency is represented by former minister and senior NC leader Surjeet Singh Slathia. The Congress had an alliance with the NC and PDP also did not field its candidate in both the seats of Jammu region.

The BJP also secured big lead from Gandhi Nagar represented by former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta and is also considered to be the stronghold of Raman Bhalla.

From Gandhi Nagar, BJP got 69340 votes, while the Congress got 35508 votes. Jammu East, the heart of city also voted overwhelmingly for BJP. The BJP got 25600 votes, while the Congress secured only 7081 votes from Jammu East.

From Bishnah, BJP got 58260 votes, while Congress got 10353 votes. From RS Pura, BJP got 41773 votes and Congress got 17034 votes. From Suchetgarh, BJP got 38988, while Congress got 9835 votes only. From Marh assembly segment, BJP got 50911 votes, while Congress got 9641 votes.
The BJP also got mammoth lead from Akhnoor. It got 68641 votes, while Congress got could get only 8900 votes.

The Congress secured big lead from Surankote. It got 70529 votes, while BJP got only 1914 votes. From Drahal, Congress got 54319 votes, while BJP got only 10360 votes. Similarly, Congress also got big lead from Mendhar. It got 69351 votes while BJP was way behind at 31577 votes.

From Rajouri also, BJP trailed. Congress secured 65641 votes, while BJP got mere 15976 votes. From Poonch-Haveli also, Congress secured big lead. It got 62915 votes, while the BJP was far behind by getting 14638 votes.
