Naib Tehsildar, Patwari arrested for taking bribe

JAMMU: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jammu today caught red handed two revenue officials including Naib Tehsildar Jhajjar Kotli while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 90,000 from a complainant here on Tuesday.

According to official spokesperson, Naib Tehsildar Jhajjar Kotli Faryad Ali and Patwari Halqa Yadav Chander were booked while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 90,000 from the complainant for issuance of fard-e-Intikhab of 2 marlas of land.

Following a complaint by one Javid Ashraf against Naib Tehsildar Faryad Ali and Patwari Halqa Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu regarding demand of bribe of Rs. 90,000 for the issuance of fard-e-Intikhab of 2 marlas of land.

Quoting complainant, official spokesperson said that his family had a building in 22 marlas of plot on National Highway Jhajjar Kotli which is in his name as well as in the name of his brother.

“He (Complainant) planned to buy another 2 marlas of land adjacent to their plot but the Naib Tehsildar as well Patwari Halqa demanded an amount of Rs. 90,000/- as bribe for the issuance of the revenue extract (fard-e-Intikhab).

“On the basis of the complaint a formal case FIR No 11/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu and entrusted to Inspr Vikram Sharma.

“A trap team of the officers/officials of Police Station ACB Jammu with DySP Abdul Wahid Giri, as TLO was constituted for the purpose, which laid a successful trap and apprehended the accused, red handed, while accepting the illegal gratification of Rs. 90,000/- from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses.”

Spokesperson said that accused were arrested on the spot. Further investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, the ACB today filed a charge sheet against a government official for accepting a bribe of Rs 13,000 from a person for issuance of a contractor license, a spokesperson of the organisation said.

A formal case was registered against Jagdeep Singh, personal assistant to superintending engineer in the office of chief engineer, Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings), Jammu, after he was caught red-handed while accepting bribe from the complainant, Daler Singh, for issuance of a 'D' contractor license, he said.

"After completing the investigation and seeking sanction for prosecution from the competent authority, the charge sheet was filed against the accused in the special judge anti-corruption, Jammu for legal determination," the spokesperson said.
