Vaishno Devi witnesses record pilgrimage in 2017, crosses over 80 lakh mark

Jammu, Dec 30: The World Famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine witnessed record number of pilgrimage and crossed over 80 lakh mark in the year 2017.
As per official figures during the current calendar year the number of pilgrims visited the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi crossed more than 80 lakh, thereby registering an increase of around 3 lakh pilgrims who paid obeisance at the Sanctum Sanctorum during the entire calendar year 2016.
In 2015, 77,76,604 pilgrims had visited to the Holy Cave Shrine and 77,23,721 pilgrims visited in 2016, said an official.
He also said that in January 4,54,118 visited the cave shrine followed by 3,28,230 in February, 6,84,663 in March, 8,00,813 in April, 9,10,843 in May, 11,84,898 in June, 7,81,433 in July, 6,31,645 in August, 7,35,596 in September, 6,94,130 in October and 4,49,174 in December.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board have also directed the board authorities to make elaborate arrangements for facilitating a large number of pilgrims.
Meanwhile the board has made arrangements including ensuring proper water and power supply along the track leading to the Shrine and in the Bhawan area, medicare, adequate stocks of blankets, security, sanitation etc.
Special arrangements were been made enroute the Shrine across the year to felicitate the pilgrims.
Ever since the inception of Shrine Board in 1986, the Holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi has witnessed an ever-increasing number of devotees.
The Yatra that stood at 13.96 Lakhs in the year 1986, increased to 104.95 lakhs (10.4 Million) in the year 2012, 93.24 Lakhs in the year 2013, 78.03 Lakhs in the year 2014, 77.76 Lakhs in the year 2015 and 77.23 Lakhs in the year 2016.
The increase in the Yatra has been possible due to the efficient and pilgrim oriented management of the Shrine Board.
