Fired for bad sanitation, GMC Suptd reinstated as another doctor blamed

Jammu: In the latest twist regarding attachment of Medical Superintendent of GMC Hospital Dr Dara Singh by none else but Chief Minister of the state, the government today reinstated him and rounded in another doctor namely Sujay Mahajan, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) in GMC Hospital.

The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti ordered attachment of Medical Superintendent of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, Dr Dara Singh, for insanitary conditions and poor facilities available to the patients in the hospital during her surprise visit on November 30,this year.

Following attachment, the government directed Director Health to hold an inquiry. The inquiry report, however, while giving clean chit to doctor Dara Singh, pointed finger towards doctor Sujay Majahan stating that the charge of sanitation in the hospital was lying with him.

After perusal of the inquiry report, the government directed Principal GMC Hospital doctor Suganda Raina to seek explanation from doctor Sujay Mahajan for his laxities causing poor sanitation in the hospital.

The order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department to the Principal GMC Hospital read as , “I am directed to invite your kind attention to your order under endorsement number GMC/Order/315 dated 17.04.2017 where in doctor Sujay Majahan, Resident Medical Officer was ordered to look after the work of sanitation in the GMC Hospital. You are directed to seek explanation from doctor Sujay Mahajan,RMO GMC, within two days positively that why the sanitation in the hospital was not upto the mark on the date of inspection of Chief Minister under an intimation to the Administrative Department”.
