DC directs for axing female Russian Poplar trees in Kupwara

KUPWARA, APRIL 04: Deputy Commissioner(DC), Kupwara , Anshul Garg, today ordered for axing of all Russian species female poplar trees in the district within six days. He urged the people to come forward for axing of the tree standing in their land as it is health hazardous because of its pollen which creates influenza like infection.
DC directed that the concerned District Officers and Tehsildars to axe the female Russian Poplar trees standing in government department including Forest, State and Kacharie land Tehsildars within a period of 06 days.
He also directed the Tehsildars to take steps in consultation with Police, Forest and Social Forestry Department to implement the order in letter and spirit.
DC further said that in view of the situation that has risen due to spread of COV1D-19, it has become imperative to take further preventive measures by way of felling down of female Russian Poplar trees as the pollen creates influenza like infection.
