Ramayana telecast will engage people, prove to be a boon during lockdown: Raman Suri

JAMMU, MARCH 27: At a time when India is under 21-Days lockdown, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government's Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar had taken a right decision to air the famous serial Ramayana on Doordarshan again. Ramayana will be aired twice a day, starting fromSaturday.

Raman Suri said that this is high time people Stay Indoors, for which theUnion Government,State Governments and UT Administrations are putting in their best efforts by engaging them through all means. He said people need to cooperate and help Government in the fight against deadly Coronavirus merely by staying indoors.

The BJP leader said as the Ramayana episodes, written, produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar, were very much famous amongst people,their telecast is a welcome step, especially during these days as it willkeep people engaged. Moreover, at this time, when everybody is at home including the children and youth, they will be able to watch the episodes and get in-depth spiritual and religious knowledge, which will ultimately give their life a good direction. The serial, he added, will be telecast both in the morning as well as evening which was also a demand of people of India.

Raman Suri said actors Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia and Sunil Lahri, known to play the role of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Lakshman ji, 33 years ago, had left an indelible mark in the viewers’ hearts. The same serial is now going to make waves in coming days and will keep people engaged. He urged people to do whatever they like, be it watchingthe serial, helping children, cooking, cleaning, exercising, utilizing the time for exam preparations, reading books or meditating, but just stay at home for one simple reason, that only this will save lives across the nation.

Raman Suri informed people that Ramayana's telecast from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 on DD National will be one episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm, as decided by Mr Javadekar.

The coronavirus has infected over 529,000 worldwide and about 700 cases have been tested positive in India. We need to help government in dealing with this virus and stopping this transmission as soon as possible, and social distancing is the only way out, Raman Suri said.
